Description
Gruene Dance Hall - Texas Gruene Dance hall is located just within New Braunfels city limits which was created in the 1940's by German immigrant the Ernst Gruene family which is also the towns name. Also the name Gruene is pronounced "Green". The Gruene led the way to build a community for the cotton farmers. This is the oldest dance hall in Texas built somewhere in the late 1878 by the Gruene as he started this community just outside of New Braunfels Tx. Gruene Hall is still in business today with a saloon and dance hall. The water tower stands behind the dance hall in this image on a nice cloudy day. Historic Gruene is visited by many as it is one of the top destinations for tourist to visit in the Texas hill country year round, Gruene is only about 50 minute drive from Austin, Texas and a little over 30 minute from San Antonio to get New Braunfels Texas so many visit here from nearby. It has been an Austin city landmark to visit for as long as I can remember. Gruene is also on the National Register of Historic Places. Also in black and white.
